The New Fire Apparatus "Problem."
Simply put, fire trucks can be a very expensive. The "good news" is that depending on the number of runs and fire department maintenance regimens--fire apparatus can easily last 10, 15 or even 20 years.  Paying cash in advance is a great option for cities that are flush with the $250,000, 500,000 or $1 million of cash to make such an investment.  Some department try and "bank" their funds, saving portions of each year's free cash flow.  The problem is that fire apparatus cost inflation has been racing well ahead of  the savings returns.  You just can't "get there from here," financially.

Municipal leasing for fire trucks is the "option of choice" because fire truck leasing is "pay as you go"...and it makes financial sense.  A municipal lease allows your city to invest in expensive new fire trucks without putting up hundred thousands of dollars in advance.  Most of our customers put nothing down and make their first of 7, 10 or 12 annual payments when their fire apparatus is actually delivered, tested and accepted.  First Capital can even make deposits to your vendor for the chassis during the build process as they come due. (this may also earn discounts from your manufacturer.  Lease-to-own payments can be spread over 3-12 years from acceptance and paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually to best suit your city's cash flow.
